The Origin of the Name
"Pilimpikou" means butterfly in French. The word comes from a village of about 6,750 inhabitants in Burkina Faso, where Monique, the founder, grew up surrounded by artisan families.
For the founder, Pilimpikou evokes authenticity, handmade craftsmanship, and simplicity.

Nice to meet you! I’m Monique, the owner of the Pilimpikou boutique.
I arrived in Quebec on February 6, 2002, in the heart of winter, and the temperature shock was quite brutal, ahahah. Aside from the winter cold, I love Quebec because the people here are so welcoming and open. What a beautiful province!
Having grown up surrounded by merchants, I’ve always dreamed of one day owning my own business. During my maternity leave, I was constantly searching for natural products for myself and my little family. While browsing social media group pages, I admired the incredible work of female artisans. That’s when I envisioned a boutique offering only the artisanal products I love, which I could share with others who have the same needs as me.
My sole goal is to offer my customers the best products from the finest female artisans, delivered quickly. My greatest joy is discovering a new artisan, featuring her products, and helping her one day make a full-time living from her craft.
